A
versatile and prolific artist, Mears works in oils, acrylics,
ceramics, clay, glass and occasionally watercolor. She graduated
from University of Iowa and did post-graduate work at both
Iowa and Wisconsin. After teaching for several years, Suzanne
moved to Oklahoma City to devote herself to her art full-time.
“I
have a very developed style. It’s very contemporary and definitely
‘in your face’ about color and design.” Much of the inspiration
for her work comes from travel and a lot of it is thematic
often working off her two Dalmatians, the human face, as well
as masks. She currently works out of two cottage studios at
the rear of her home.
